The new-look regional Mad Dogs U16 team, comprising Winterthur, Zurich, Würenlos & Tägerwilen players, has enjoyed a strong start to the season after two games.
The first match against Western Warriors served up a bounty of tries as the Mad Dogs ran out 71-5 winners in Bern. It was an emphatic statement performance to kick off the season, which was followed by a match against a strong PAC1 Geneva side in Winterthur on September 13.
Three tries helped Mad Dogs into a 21-20 lead into the dying moments of a closely-fought and compelling game. But PAC served up a try with the last touch of the game to end up eventual 25-21 winners.
Despite the heart break loss, the Mad Dogs squad can hold their heads up high by showing they can mix it with the strongest sides in the league. They showed the type of team spirit and commitment that will serve them well for the rest of the season.
